
Many “pulley problems” are really drive-system problems. Belt wear, noise or vibration can come from groove wear, alignment, tension, shaft fit or an incorrect replacement profile.
Belt sits too low in the groove
The groove may be worn or the belt section may be wrong. Compare the old pulley with the correct section geometry before fitting another belt.
Edge wear or belt tracking
Check pulley alignment and shaft condition. A tapered bush that is not seated evenly can leave the pulley running out of plane.
Repeated loosening
Inspect the shaft, key, bush and tightening procedure. Do not compensate for a damaged interface by over-tightening the belt.
Vibration at operating speed
Check runout, alignment, accumulated debris and balance. Include the actual operating rpm when requesting a balancing review.
Replacement part does not fit
Verify whether the quoted diameter was P or O and whether the bush designation included the correct finished bore. These two mix-ups account for many avoidable return situations.
