Japanese machinery buyers place strong emphasis on complete dimensional information and repeatable replacement fit. JIS terminology can appear on local equipment, while imported European machinery may specify ISO/DIN narrow V-belt profiles.
When a machine drawing cites JIS or another customer standard, send that reference with the enquiry. Do not assume an ISO/DIN SPA groove automatically matches a locally specified profile because the outside diameter is similar.

Industries and buyer priorities in Japan
| Industry | Typical belt-drive context | RFQ emphasis |
|---|---|---|
| Machine tools | Spindle and auxiliary drives | Tight dimensional control, balance when specified |
| Industrial automation | Conveyors and auxiliary mechanisms | Low vibration, stable service |
| Agricultural machinery | Harvester and pump drives | Humidity, accurate replacement fit |
| Printing & paper | Web and print-machine drives | Balance, contamination control |
| Pumps & compressors | Industrial pump and refrigeration drives | Stable multi-groove transmission |
| Electronics manufacturing | Precision auxiliary drives | Low-vibration requirement |
Terminology and standards context
Provide the original belt marking, pulley model and drawing standard where available. If the existing machine is imported, keep the European SP profile identity clear throughout the RFQ.
Replacement workflow
1. Confirm the belt section
Read the marking on the existing belt or machine drawing. SPA, SPZ, SPB and SPC use different groove geometries.
2. Confirm the required ratio
Use the pitch/datum diameters, not the outside diameters, when checking driver and driven speed.
3. Choose the groove count
The groove count affects power capacity, axial width and the number of matched belts in the drive.
4. Match the shaft interface
Check shaft diameter, keyway and the recommended taper-bush designation for the exact row.
5. Check the machine envelope
Compare outside diameter and axial dimensions with the guard, bearings and adjacent components.
6. Record the RFQ details
Send the model or measurements, speeds, shaft, application and any drawing/replacement reference.
Documentation to prepare before enquiry
Prepare a dimensional RFQ
Send the model or measurements, shaft diameter, speed data, application, quantity and destination to [email protected].
